Abstract
The planning process has been developed around the construction stages of pre-tender, pre-contract and contract planning. This follows the sequence involved in the planning of a contract from tender to completion in order to aid contract control. Control is defined as: to check, verify or regulate — planning enables management to establish realistic standards against which performance can be matched during a contract. Planning procedures enable overall control to be maintained by careful monitoring of the contract position. Planning enables decisions taken at tender stage to be monitored throughout the pre-contract and post-contract period.
