Abstract

The processes of heat transfer considered so far have been intimately related to the nature of the material medium, the presence of solid-fluid interfaces, and the presence of fluid motion. Energy transfer has been observed to take place only in the direction of a negative temperature gradient, and at a rate which depends directly on the magnitude of that gradient.
