Abstract

The quantity surveying profession has largely developed over the last century, but has now grown to such an extent that it forms one of the largest single sections in the membership of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors, particularly since the amalgamation with the former Institute of Quantity Surveyors in 1983. Quantity surveyors are employed in private practices, public offices and by contractors, and they undertake a diversity of work.
