Abstract
Even if all direct assaults, all disputes over boundaries and all colonial wars were eliminated, conflicts between states might still arise out of their involvement in internal disputes elsewhere. Intervention in civil conflicts in other countries has become in recent times the commonest of all types of international military activity.
