Factors Affecting French Monetary Policy

  • Chapter
Monetary and Exchange Rate Policy

Part of the book series: Studies in Banking and International Finance ((SBIF))

Abstract

Three major events could have altered the conduct of monetary policy in France in recent years. The first of these events was the institution of the European Monetary System (EMS) in March 1979; the second was the change of the presidential and parliamentary majorities in mid-1981 and the third was the shift towards the end of 1982 from an expansionary to a restrictive economic policy.
