Abstract
As for any economic or social choice, two steps are decisive in the energy field: the preliminary step of preparing the best decisions, which involves mainly the comparison between alternative energy sources, giving due weight to the whole set of criteria which have to be considered; the final step of implementation, by means of meas-ures which will orientate the energy balance of the nation (or of a set of nations) in the right direction. The methodological aspects of economic studies in the field of energy and the practical problems of delineating and implementing an energy policy have been the main topics of the papers and discussions of this conference.
