Abstract

It’s Bank Holiday Monday, and Mary who is a full-time youth and community worker, is settling down to her evening meal when the phone rings. The caller is a resident who lives near Mary’s centre. Some young people she knows have just been to her house to tell her that the door of the centre has been kicked in. The woman has tried to contact the caretaker of the building, but apparently she’s on holiday this week. Will Mary come over? Mary isn’t sure she wants to, but if the caretaker’s on holiday, there really isn’t anyone else. Regretfully she abandons her evening at home and sets off.
