Abstract

The converter circuits considered in this chapter have in common an ac supply input and a dc load. The function of the converter circuit is to convert the ac source into dc load power, mainly for high inductive loads. Turn-off of converter semiconductor devices is brought about by the ac supply reversal, a process called natural commutation.
