Abstract

The timing of the first return to work involves examining the duration of time women spend not working after their first childbirth. As we have seen from the discussion of the birth-sequence patterns some women return to work after their first child, although they may have other children subsequently. Other women delay their return until they have completed their childbirths and some women never return to work although these are a small minority.
