Hand Injuries

  • Chapter
Fracture

Abstract

Injuries to the hand are potentially serious because they may impair the function and dexterity of this most useful manipulative tool. It is estimated that approximately 70 per cent of all industrial injuries occurring in the United States of America and Great Britain involve the hand. This is undoubtedly a result of the increased mechanisation within industry in the western world. These injuries are important because they most commonly occur to those people who most need the use of their hands.
