Abstract

The subject of elasto-plastic bending of beams, columns, frames and other complex structures has generated a considerable volume of specialised literature, the review of which is outside the scope of this book. However, to gain an appreciation of the range of topics covered and the ways in which they are approached, we shall consider a selection of problems that form a sound basis for understanding the inherent difficulties.
