Abstract

The granting of the Royal Assent to the Mental Health (Amendment) Bill brings to a close a recent round of debate about the care of the mentally ill. The establishment of an ‘approved social worker’ will undoubtedly affect not only the way in which the service is offered to the mentally disordered but influence more general changes in social work.
