Abstract

□ This chapter is the first of several ‘applications’ chapters that will be introduced at various stages through the book. No new principles or features of the Pascal language are introduced in any of them. Their purpose is to cater for certain specialist requirements; for example this chapter discusses some mathematical aspects of the language covered to date. Those who do not wish to use computers for mathematics may safely go straight to Chapter 6. □
