Abstract

Under this heading are included some spectacular and economically extremely important, though rare, deposits. There is no limitation on the timing of the intrusions; they may be Precambrian or Phanerozoic. The only common feature is that the terrain into which they have been intruded is characterized by long geological stability. Such intrusions are absent from oceanic areas and restricted to continental shield areas.
