Abstract
AIMS. The exercise is designed to teach students some of the problems associated with observing and recording social interaction. Students are trained in the use of a modified version of Bales’ Interaction Process Analysis and they use the system to analyse interactions in conflict and nonconflict problem-solving discussion groups.
