Abstract
‘Could you get me somewhere better to live?’ is the main symptom of what has been cynically designated ‘The X-town Syndrome’ (for X read the name of any area where there is widespread dissatisfaction with housing provision). When asked to assist a client to jump the housing queue one may find oneself in a moral dilemma. What evidence do we have that housing conditions can affect mental health? What sort of a case can be put forward in support of this particular client obtaining different accommodation?
