Abstract
Much has already been said about the evaluation of knowledge, since it is part and parcel of the research process and not a separate mode of activity. The grounds for treating evaluation as inexplicable simply by reference to logic and experience have already been indicated. None the less a more abstract discussion may be helpful in establishing this controversial assessment of what is possible in the way of evaluation in science. And the basis for such a discussion is provided in Kuhn’s Structure.
