Abstract

The Ostariophysi comprises two main groupings, the Anotophysi and the Otophysi. The Anotophysi contains the single order Gonorhynchiformes, represented by the milkfish, a little-known group occurring mainly in fresh waters in Africa, although some members occur in the sea and are of some commercial importance (Chanos).
