Part of the National Children’s Bureau series book series

Abstract

As mentioned in the previous chapter, records were kept of all children on the combined centres’ roll at the beginning of September 1976 and of all subsequent admissions and departures until the end of August 1978. The aim was to obtain a picture of the use which was being made of the nurseries, the length of time children attended and their reasons for leaving. In order to have some yardstick of comparison with conventional forms of provision, similar information was collected from the day nurseries and nursery schools taking part in the project.
