Abstract
Gas turbine engines are most generally known for their use in aircraft (section 2.1)[9] but they are also used in surface transportation (section 2.2) and increasingly in stationary applications. The latter field encompasses the greatest variety of configurations and purposes and is still expanding, whereas the aviation field is consolidating.
