Abstract

In the chapters which follow we shall be looking at three areas of children’s development at 11: firstly, their physical development, as measured by their height; secondly, their educational attainment, as measured by their scores in tests of reading and maths; and thirdly, their adjustment to school as measured by the Bristol Social Adjustment Guide. These measures will be described more fully in the relevant chapters.
