Abstract

The SNARK, as we explained in chapter 7, is a stored program computer. One major advantage of this arrangement is that the computer can choose to repeat certain sequences of instructions many times over, or else to skip them entirely, depending on the circumstances of the problem. This ability of the computer to choose which instruction to do next distinguishes it from a simple calculator, which has to be guided from step to step by its human user.
