Abstract
It is now widely accepted that physical, emotional and intellectual development are closely inter-related; and that this development in turn depends on the interaction of a broad range of genetic and environmental conditions. Among the latter, the family is the most basic and continuing influence, with the neighbourhood and school being next in importance.
