Abstract

In Chapters 6 and 7, which covered the areas to which the graphical and simplex methods could be applied as well as the transportation method, we were basically looking at the problems of allocation. Whenever there are a number of activities to be performed, but limitations on either the amount of resources or the way they can be spent prevent the performance of each separate activity in the most effective way, then in such cases we allot the resources available in a way that will optimise the total effectiveness.
