Abstract

We can start with the common view of the media on the left, which is that they are owned by the capitalist class to indoctrinate popular and working-class opinion. This is so often, in effect, true that for many purposes it is not necessary to look further. But once you apply your mind to the whole range of problems of these very different media in this kind of society, you find that you have to make the definitions at almost every point a good deal more precise.
