Abstract
Forward planning provides a course by which to steer: if the plan is seriously at fault the company can head for disaster: if there is no forward plan it can drift dangerously. Sales forecasting is a vital element in forward planning since its predictions will affect the types of product to be developed and marketed, production facilities to be provided, volume of output and level of inventory.
