Abstract
HIGHLIGHTING is probably the most natural-looking effect that can be achieved with hair colour. Ironically, it is also one of the oldest methods of colouring. Early records show that it was used by Venetian women working in the fields; they pulled strands of hair through small holes in their straw hats, applied lemon juice or chamomile, and bleached them in the sun!
