Abstract

Computerised data-processing has brought the quantity surveyor into contact with specialists whom he would not previously have met in the performance of his duties. In this situation the quanitity surveyor needs to know certain facts about the computer industry that will enable him to make a choice regarding the best way of utilising the computer. It is important that he have some knowledge of the computer industry and the services it provides. This chapter is therefore concerned with an examination of the computer industry and the methods of utilising the various services provided by the industry.
