Abstract
Arthropods in which:-
-
1.
There are two pairs of pre-oral appendages which are antenniform and sensory.
-
2.
The mandibles grind the food by a rolling action of the gnathobase.
-
3.
The body is divided into three regions, head, thorax and abdomen, but there is a tendency for the anterior thoracic segments to fuse with the head to form a cephalothorax.
-
4.
There are usually at least three pairs of post-oral appendages acting as jaws (mandibles, maxillules and maxillae).
-
5.
The trunk appendages are very variable in form and function and typically occur on every segment of both thorax and abdomen. They are typically biramous.
