Abstract

These two metals have a very rich and extensive chemistry which almost in its entirety consists of the study of co-ordination compounds. Like the heavy metals that are near to them in the periodic table, they form rather few polymeric salt-like compounds but give large numbers of molecular complexes with a variety of ligands.
