Abstract

In the design and operation of magnetic spectrometers for charged particles interest lies not only in the dispersive power of the spectrometer but also in its magnification, resolution and collection efficiency. These properties are analogous to those of the optical spectrometer and indeed direct comparisons can be drawn in a number of specific cases.
