Marking Beach Materials for Tracing Experiments

  • Chapter
Introduction to Coastline Development

Part of the book series: Geographical Readings

Abstract

Because of the need to obtain quantitative data on the nature and speed of sediment transport a number of techniques have been devised to mark beach material. Whereas the use of radioactive isotopes and fluorescent tracers has provided new methods, the development of improved resins, dyes and pigments has meant that older techniques remain of value for some purposes.
