Abstract

As with rural land use patterns, the location of industry is a spatial problem and therefore capable of analysis by the geographer. Again as in the case of the last chapter, the geographer can usefully employ theoretical analysis through the examination of a basic model. This enables the fundamental proposition suggested in the model to be properly examined, stripped of confusing detail. Once this has been understood, theory can be married to the complexities of the real-world situation.
