Abstract

The social stratification of society has received far more attention from sociologists than from psychologists. This is not because psychological problems are lacking in this area; more probably the apparent dearth of interest has been due to the fact that it is difficult to bring the psychological phenomena of social class into the laboratory for closer examination.
