Abstract
Biologists used to tell us that the human race has been in existence on this earth for half a million years. More recently, they have been telling us that remains of what were obviously genuine humans can be dated a million years back — though how the dating is done is not precisely explained, and indeed biologists seem so casual over the whole matter that one sometimes wonders whether they have even got the right number of zeroes.
