Abstract

The full Cabinet, called here the Cabinet Council, meets for two hours or so once a week — sometimes less under Mrs Thatcher, and occasionally longer and more frequently under Mr Wilson. Harold Wilson in his farewell statement said he had presided over 472 Cabinets in about eight years in office; Mrs Thatcher notched up 394 in over eleven years.
