Perhaps the most consistent criticism levelled against consultants is that they are ail talk and no action. The archetypal hit-and-run approach to consulting involved writing a lengthy report on the client’s desk, containing unrealistic suggestions couched in management jargon — and running before anyone actually tried to do anything.
