Abstract

We know a great deal about the language-learning process, but individual learners still have a large part to play in making their learning successful. Successful learners are people who choose useful ways to study. They also manage to use the language they do know to compensate for all the language they still have to learn. You may think that teachers or lecturers are the ones who decide how you will learn, but this chapter suggests decisions you can make for yourself.
