Abstract

Amplification is needed in almost all systems to increase the amplitude of a signal. It may be achieved in several ways, but these broadly fall into three categories: reflection amplifiers, parametric amplifiers and two port amplifiers. The latter include transistor circuits and microwave tube amplifiers, and are currently the most prevalent.
