Computerised Methodologies for Modelling of Computer Integrated Manufacturing Systems

  • Chapter
Proceedings of the Thirty-Second International Matador Conference

Summary

This paper presents the development of a computerised tool supporting the use of the GRAI method. The GRAI method is a manufacturing system modelling methodology which was developed at University of Bordeaux-I in France in the 1970s. It has been found that the main constraint of GRAI is the absence of computerised tools to support its graphical elements and methodology mechanisms. Whilst some methods and methodologies have computerised tools, such as IDEFO, SADT, and SSADM, this important feature has not until recently been available for the GRAI method. A general-purpose computer language has been used to develop the computerised tool which involves several user friendly interfaces assist the user to build the models.
