  • understand that the Sun is the major source of the Earth’s energy

  • know that fossil fuels are non-renewable

  • know that some forms of energy are renewable

  • understand that burning fossil fuels increases the carbon dioxide in the atmosphere

  • understand that plants and trees absorb carbon dioxide and give out oxygen

  • understand why a greenhouse is warmer on the inside than outside

  • know that some gases increase the greenhouse effect on the Earth

  • know that energy can be derived from the Sun’s rays, tides, winds, water waves, etc.

  • understand that nuclear energy can be used to generate electricity.
