Abstract

When I left MECAS in the spring of 1958 all seemed set fair for steady progress. The only cloud was the failure to find a successor for me. I was replaced temporarily by Denis Michell DFC, an officer in the Foreign Service who had just completed the Advanced Course. Denis stood 6′ 8″ and his character was as strong as his build. He was to die untimely and much lamented.
