Abstract
Gravity is the force that holds the whole of the universe together and is responsible for the planets moving in their orbits around the Sun. Gravitational force is the force between two masses and it depends on the size of the masses with larger masses exerting a stronger pull on each other. It also depends on the distance between the centres of the masses with masses closer together exerting a larger gravitational force. The variation of force with distance follows an inverse square law.
