Abstract

Most organisations find it useful to have cash available for making small cash payments. The word ‘petty’ means small or minor. Petty cash is used to pay for various small items of expenditure. These often include postage stamps, items of stationery, petrol and travelling expenses (such as taxi, bus and train fares). Petty cash should be kept in a locked petty cash box.
