Abstract
This chapter addresses the question of how systems designers can be assisted to adopt an ethical position when designing and implementing new systems. It discusses how the philosophers of the past and the biologists of today define the notion of human improvement and some of the dilemmas of an ethical approach. It considers the role of the moral leader and strategies that can assist an ethical approach. It concludes by providing two sets of questions that can help the systems designer to provide an approach that is ethically beneficial for both users and employers.
