Abstract

A system of forces A, B, C etc, acting through a common point O, in the same plane (Figure 2.la), is in equilibrium when the algebraic sum of its force components ΣF, in the x and y directions, is zero. It follows from this that the polygon of force vectors (Fig. 2.1b) will close.
