Abstract
The war of positions which has been raging in the West during the 1980s has opposed the social democratic (Keynesian) project to the neo-classical doctrine which considers political intervention in the economic sphere as globally negative. The victory of libertarianism has translated into the dismantlement of the public sector in almost all capitalist countries.
