Social Construction and the Concept of ‘Community’

This chapter continues the theme of the concrete unreality of a place called the community which nevertheless has achieved an identity and a social reality of its own. For it is one thing for sociologists (such as myself) to argue for the nonexistence of community, when groups of professional workers are expected to deliver care to groups of recipients in precisely such a site!
