Abstract
The purpose of this chapter is to provide a critical analysis of the most important period in the modern history of Iran. It is widely believed that if the democratic government of Dr Mohammad Musaddiq had survived, it would have paved the way for a more stable Iran. Perhaps more importantly, the bloody revolution of 1979 would not have happened.
