Abstract

In Section 1 of this module we discussed the link between demographic and social factors and health-care needs in the community, and in Sections 2-4 we looked at the role of the community nurse in meeting those needs. We have seen that these factors are creating a situation in which demand outstrips the resources available to pay for it in a state-provided health-care system, and it is this which forms the background to recent reforms in the health service:
